Sunday’s Cool at Cooksmill Green currently has an age range from 3 years old upwards. Sometimes we split into two groups called ‘Shepherds’ (school age children) and ‘Lambs’ (pre-school children) but we always start together with a prayer.
Very clearly a play on the words “Sunday School”, this Sunday School is a place where children can enjoy learning about the Gospel of Jesus in way that is up to date and relevant to the society in which they will grow up.
The traditional format of a Sunday School is preserved but enhanced and brought up to date to give youngsters confidence and their own voice in the church and the world.
Bible stories, well known from the earlier Sunday School days are taught with a careful and reverent twist to make sure they have a meaningful comparison to today’s world.
“The Prodigal Son”‘, “The Lost Sheep”, “God’s Rules” (the ten commandments) and “The Walls of Jericho” are among the many Sunday School stories brought to life by illustration and making things.
There is much fun to be had learning new stories, singing, playing games and sometimes getting messy doing craft work.
At the end of each lesson we go into the church to tell the grown ups what we have been doing, we show them any craft work we have done and sometimes sing a song.
If you would like to join us, we always love to welcome new faces.
Sunday’s Cool meets on the first and third Sundays of each month at 10:30 a.m. so please feel free to come along.
